A popular location for the world’s most famous musicians and performers, Glasgow boasts a range of concert Venues throughout the city, constantly hosting chart-topping bands, renowned performing arts companies, comedians and more.

The SECC (Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre) boasts two halls used for performances, one holding 12,500 seats and the other 3,000 which regularly host some of the biggest names in music, as does the 2,500 capacity O2 Academy and the 5,200 Braehead International Arena which doubles as a skating rink, feature productions such as ‘Disney on Ice’.

For performing arts, the prestigious Glasgow Royal Concert Hall has hosted a range of performers from the renowned St. Petersburg Philharmonic orchestra to Celine Dion and violinist Maxin Vengerov, while arts can equally be enjoyed in smaller venues such as the CCA (Centre for Contemporary arts).

The smaller venues of the city are held in as much regard by their patrons and performers alike. King Tuts Wah Wah Hut, a comparably small bar and concert venue which features the best up and coming bands as well as those unsigned and gather attention and has hosted the likes of Blur, The Verve, Pulp, Travis and Radio Head and was in fact the Venue where the Internationally successful Manchester rock band Oasis were first discovered. Similarly, the Barrowlands listed as one of the best small venues in the world competes with far larger venues around the city to attract both up and coming acts, as well as bands in their commercial prime. Famous acts too numerous to mention have included The Smiths, R.E.M, Oasis. The Foo Fighters, The Ramones, Justin Timberlake, Blondie, INXS, David Bowie, U2, the Artic Monkeys and Bob Dylan.
