1. How to make a booking
Booking may be made by telephone, fax, email or by the online booking system. A deposit is not required, however, a credit card number will guarantee your booking. We accept cash / travellers cheques in sterling, debit cards and credit cards. We do not accept payment by cheques any more.
2. Cancellation Policy
A. All cancellations and mofications must be done via the online booking sytem.
B. Less than 24 hours of cancellation incurs a cost of one nights stay.
3. Check in/Check out
Check in is from 2pm. Guests may leave their baggage and wait in the premises if necessary but there is a policy of no access to rooms till 2 pm. Check out is by 11am.
4. Disabled arrangements
There are 15 steps from street level to McLays Guest House which would make it unsuitable for some disabled people. We would also like to note that the surrounding streets are very hilly and the nearest cross street Garnet Hill is the steepest hill in Glasgow. McLays does have a lift in 1 of the 4 buildings that McLays is comprised of.
McLays Guest House is a privately owned establishment. The Guest House building originated from Victorian townhouses.
6. Other FAQs
A. Cot - there is a limited number of cots so please give advance warning so that we can reserve you one. The cot is provided free of charge.
B. Internet - guests can use the internet for a fee of £2.00 per 30 minutes. If guests have their own laptop then Wi-Fi is available free in the public areas of the hotel. There is no internet availability in guest rooms.
C. Iron/ironing board / Hairdryers can be borrowed from reception.
D. Local information - please enquire at reception, normally maps are available. If required, restaurant reservations can be made by hotel staff.
E. A snack machine and soft drinks machine is available in the lobby.
F. There is a hotel safe where valuables can be stored.
G. Taxis can be ordered at reception.
7. Parking Facilities
Limited street parking is available due to the central location of McLays. Glasgow City Council has a voucher scheme in operation for parking and McLays can supply these vouchers for a nominal fee. The cost from 4pm to 8am is £2.00. The cost from 8am to 2pm is £2.00. The cost from 8am to 4pm is £4.00. There are also multi-storey car parking facilities available nearby.
8. Pet Policy No pets are allowed apart from guide dogs.
9. Scottish Tourist Board
McLays Guest House has been successfully awarded 1 star status by the Scottish Tourist Board.
McLays has a no smoking policy and this applies to all bedrooms and public rooms.
